International Vice President Ray Cabrera

Raymond Cabrera, better known as Ray, was born and raised in New York City. His formative education was in parochial schools finishing up in public school. While attending college he dropped a class, which made him draft eligible, so he was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years, serving one year in Vietnam where he earned a purple heart.
His parents sold and moved their business from New York to California, and when Ray returned, he registered for college in California finishing with a degree in Business Administration.
He worked for J.C. Penney for 20 years before taking his retirement and starting all over again with the State of California. Ray is a thirteen-year employee of the California Employment Development Department, Unemployment Insurance Branch, at the Riverside Primary Call Center.
Ray has been an IAPES/IAWP member from the first day of work attending his first International Educational Conference in Palm Springs, California in 2003. He has attended all the International Educational Conferences since then.
On the chapter-level, Ray has served as California's Chapter President for two terms, First VP for two terms, and Membership Chair for two terms not to mention a number of positions at the local subchapter level. On the International level he has served as District XV Director for two terms, Educational Development Chair for two terms, and serves as the newly elected International Vice-President and Membership Committee Chair.
On a personal note he has been married to his wife Donna for 35 years and has a co-ed daughter, Kristine. He is a very active church member and is a Knights of Columbus treasurer for his council.
Ray is always trying to find new things to learn and better communicate. He has selected a motto that identifies what he is all about in IAWP.
